All things composting
Volunteers with Harrisonburg Composts’ community food scrap drop-off program set up a table at the Harrisonburg Farmers Market every Saturday from April through October. We’re there to share the joys of composting, take your scraps, answer questions, and meet fellow composters. We’d love to have you stop by to say hello!

In addition the our table set up during the regular Market season, year round we put buckets by each trash can to try to capture some of the compostables generated at the Market. A growing number of vendors are embracing compostable serviceware which needs to make its way to Black Bear Composting to take advantage of their specialized construction. We envision a zero-waste Market where all vendors have compostable packaging and serviceware, and want to be there to see these items meet their full potential of turning back into plants.
Have some extra time on Saturday mornings and an interest in helping out? We’d love to have your help! Contact us.
