Since the start of the community food scrap drop-off program (aka compost drop-off) in 2016 until now, Harrisonburg’s Climate Action Alliance of the Valley (CAAV) has been hosting the project through their treasury and website. It’s been a great alliance and we’ve appreciated their support and structure. This year we are branching off and becoming our own entity under the name Harrisonburg Composts.
Founded in 2008 by Cathy Strickler, CAAV has been providing advocacy, education and support for climate change concerns at local and statewide levels, ever since.
